Top 5 Sales Metrics

The most important five key performance indicators every sales leader should understand and monitor to maximize the results of their team and their pipeline.

Average Selling Price

Average Selling Price (ASP) is the average price a given product is sold for. This metric can be applied narrowly to a product or service or, more broadly, to an entire market. It's a common metric, often used to compare businesses or channels and is particularly interesting as a reflection of what consumers will pay for similar products or services.

MRR Growth Rate

Monthly Recurring Revenue (MRR) Growth Rate is the velocity at which MRR is being added to the business, expressed as a percentage. MRR Growth Rate is often cited as a monthly rate, but it's also possible to express it using an annual timeframe; for example, "we are targeting 10% MRR Growth for April", or "our MRR Growth Rate was 100% last year".

Opportunity Win Rate

Opportunity Win Rate measures your sales team's effectiveness at converting qualified opportunities into closed-won deals. It's calculated by dividing the total number of won opportunities by the total number of opportunities that reached a final decision (won plus lost), expressed as a percentage. This metric reveals how competitive and skilled your sales organisation is at the moment of truth—when prospects are making buying decisions.

Revenue

Revenue is the total income generated from a company's primary business operations before deducting any costs or expenses. Often called the "top line" because it appears at the top of the income statement, revenue represents the gross amount earned from core business activities such as product sales, service fees, subscriptions, or licensing agreements.

Won Opportunities

Won Opportunities is the count of sales opportunities that are “Closed Won”. It is a measure of success of the Sales, Marketing, and Product teams. "Closed Won" is the stage at which a quote or proposal has been signed or electronically accepted and is now considered fulfillable. Counter to Won Customers, Won Opportunities apply to both new and existing customers.
